Our story
A family farming business
Niall & Juana Matthews is a family farming business based in County Louth, operating since 2019. The farm is operated by Niall and Juana Matthews, who are responsible for the management and development of the agricultural enterprise. Like many Irish family farms, our operation combines practical day-to-day farming with long-term planning, animal care, land management and responsible agricultural practice.

Niall Matthews

Niall Matthews is an accomplished Irish dairy farmer, agricultural leader and prominent figure in Ireland's cooperative dairy sector. He farms in Tully, County Louth, in partnership with his wife, Juana, and has been actively involved in representing the interests of Irish dairy farming families. He holds a Degree in Agricultural Science from University College Dublin (UCD).
Niall Matthews has served as Chairperson of Lakeland Dairies, one of Ireland's major farmer-owned dairy cooperatives, since first being elected to the position in February 2021. He has subsequently been re-elected, reflecting the confidence placed in his leadership by the cooperative's farming community.
In his leadership role, Niall represents the interests of approximately 3,200 farm families supplying Lakeland Dairies, which processes around 2 billion litres of milk annually and supplies dairy products and ingredients to markets internationally.
His professional involvement extends beyond Lakeland Dairies. Niall has also served as Chair of the ICOS Dairy Committee, giving him a broader role in representing and advocating for Ireland's cooperative dairy sector.
His public-sector and industry engagement has included representing Lakeland Dairies in discussions with Irish government ministers, political representatives and agricultural stakeholders on matters including dairy farming sustainability, agricultural policy, generational renewal, farmer confidence and the long-term future of the Irish dairy industry.
